<p>Times have changed in the wedding industry. Earth conscious couples are thinking twice before ordering keepsakes or trinkets for their guests. Here are a few options to replace traditional wedding favors:
<div></p>
<div>EDIBLES</div>
<div>Rather than giving your guests something they may not use and will probably give or throw away, give them food! Some great options are organic milk and cookies at the end of the night, a wrapped cookie at each place setting (see photo above) a caramel apple for a fall wedding, organic fair trade chocolates, sweets &#8211; a la candy bar if you so choose, mini cakes, or something else that&#8217;s special to you. Couple the food with a thank you note or sign.&nbsp;</div>
<p></p>
<div>DONATION</div>
<div>Give to a charity or two or three that are close to your heart. Put a recycled or alternative paper note at each place setting letting guests know that in lieu of favors you have donated to the following charities. Post a sign near the entrance with more information about the charities so guests can learn and maybe be inspired to give more.&nbsp;</div>
<p></p>
<div>
<div>FORGO A FAVOR ALL TOGETHER</div>
<div>This is not for the traditionalist. The idea of not giving your guests anything for coming to your event may not sound like the best approach for you, but some couples actually feel that the event itself is the gift: the bottomless cocktails, the three course meal, the sweet desserts, and the party! If you choose to do this, you may want to consider grabbing the mic and giving a welcome/thank you speech to let everyone know how appreciative you are that they shared in the day with you (a nice idea regardless).</div>
</div>
<p></p>
<div>LIVE PLANTS</div>
<div>A nice way to ensure guests will remember your day is by giving them a live plant, preferably with care instructions and a little thank you note. Select a plant that means something to you. For example, if you cook a lot consider giving herbs like rosemary, basil, or even sweet smelling peppermint.</div>
<p></p>
<div>VINTAGE or RECYCLED</div>
<div>If you do decide to give something to guests, be sure to think about usability. Will guests keep it for a long time? Does it fit with their household and lifestyle? Consider shopping for vintage or recycled material products.&nbsp;</div>
