When making changes to our lifestyles it’s sometime good to start from the ground up, or from the inside out, which when talking clothing means – underwear. Take a look at the underwear in stores and you see elastic, cotton, plastic packaging, unfair working conditions and much more! An eco nightmare! There are however some more sustainable options out there one of which is PACT underwear. PACT’s motto is CHANGE STARTS WITH YOUR UNDERWEAR.

What makes PACT sustainable and eco-friendly?

  • Each pair is inspired by a
social or environmental cause and 10% of every sale goes to their
    non-profit partners
  • When you buy PACT underwear, you are supporting and encouraging organic
cotton farmers, responsible labor practices, and businesses that form
partnerships with nonprofit organizations dedicated to positive change
    in our world
  • The farmers and cotton pickers involved in the growing and harvesting
of the organic cotton were paid a fair price for their product.
  • All
fabric is dyed and printed using dyes and inks that are low-impact and
    free of heavy metals.
  • PACT underwear is made of 95% organic cotton and 5% elastane
  • Egedeniz Tekstil where the cotton is processed is an exemplary garment factory with regard to both environmental and social standards.
It was the very first certified organic factory in Turkey. They contract with local farmers and third-party processors, to ensure
all elements of production are as close together as possible to
minimize this phase of transportation. This entire supply chain from growing to sewing takes
    place within a 100-mile radius.
  • Each pair of underwear is packed in its own reusable fabric bag.
Typically, each pair of underwear would be shipped from the factory in
its own individual plastic bag. Some of PACT’s fabric bags, however, are
    produced from off-cuts (excess fabric)
  • PACT’s unique bright green shipping package is made from a special
material that is 100% compostable. It can go straight into your green
bin for commercial composting. Even the shipping label and the adhesive
used to affix the label are compostable.

The company website states that:

“Nothing that is shipped to you – the underwear, fabric bags, or
compostable shipping bag and labels – should end up in a landfill.
We’re hoping that by the time your PACT underwear is well-worn and
you’re ready to get rid of it, we’ll have figured out a way to recycle
it. We are constantly searching for innovative ideas about how to best
accomplish the cradle-to-cradle goal and move away from the idea of
consuming and then discarding.”

When it comes to underwear it looks like PACT certainly are leaders in the industry and a great choice for the eco-friendly consumer!
