Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and to help everyone out with that I have put together a list of eco-friendly tips geared at celebrating Valentine’s Day in an eco-friendly way. Take a look at this list and I am sure that you will find at least one thing to make your Valentine’s Day a little eco-friendly.
- Try your hand at making a homemade card or support a local artist who cards from recycled materials.
- Give your loved one a locally grown rose bush instead of a bouquet of roses from the florist. Not only is it better but it also allows them to enjoy fresh roses for a very long period of time!
- When picking out wine and or champagne this Valentine’s Day opt for an organic variety.
- Opt for fair trade chocolates for that special someone instead of the usual chocolates.
- Try fair trade or recycled jewelry instead of the usual diamonds.
- When giving lingerie as a gift try giving hemp or organic lingerie to your lover instead.
- Opt to dine by candlelight instead of by regular light (light bulbs). It’s definitely more romantic, and obviously saves a lot more energy to boot.
- Buy organic knickers
- Buy a bouquet of flowers/roses from organicbouquet.com
- Instead of a diamond pendant necklace try this bamboo pendant necklace
- Use organic soy and or beeswax candles to set the mood.
- Give your Valentine a card made from recycled paper instead of the usual Valentine’s Day card. A large chain store that carries them at a good price is Wal-Mart. E-cards are also great, especially if you want to send a batch of cards out to family and friends to just wish them a Happy Valentine’s Day.
- Serve a meal made of mostly organic food or dine at a restaurant that serves organic food.
- Shop at Good Karma Organics for eco-friendly lingerie. Use their store locater on their website or contact them through their website to find out if you have one near you.
- Instead of placing store bought flowers all over your home place flowers that have been snipped from your garden all over your home. A pretty glass bowl filled with water and snipped flower heads makes for a nice arrangement.
