Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy
Thanksgiving to all of our readers out there all over the world,
whether you are celebrating Thanksgiving or not! Whether you
celebrate Thanksgiving or not it doesn’t mean that you can’t give
thanks for anything and everything in your life. Granted Thanksgiving
Day is a holiday created to celebrate such a wonderful time in
history but that doesn’t mean that we can’t give thanks in general,
and it doesn’t mean that we have to have a huge bountiful feast to
share with family and friends. Not everyone can afford such things.
Thanksgiving isn’t just about having a huge meal. It is about being
with family and friends, being thankful for them and everything else
in life. Take the time out to thank people for things that they have
done or do in general that you never thanked them for before.

A
great way to help out during Thanksgiving if you have the time is to
volunteer some place that serves food to the homeless, take part in a
Thanksgiving food drive, or even volunteer at a local church. Whether
you are a “believer” so to speak or not a church is a great place
to help out at, because they always have something going on when it
comes to donating their time to a special, especially around the
holidays. Try USAChurch to help with your search for churches.

Spending
Thanksgiving alone? If you are spending Thanksgiving alone and
volunteering just isn’t your thing then here are a few suggestions
for spending Thanksgiving alone without doing damage to the
environment:

  • Chase
the blues (if you are feeling blue around this time of year as some
people do) away by cleaning your home with eco-friendly cleaners.

  • Grab
an organic frozen meal from the grocery store (some stores do stay
    open on Thanksgiving).

  • Light
eco-friendly candles to set the mood, such as soy based candles.

  • Depending
on how the weather is where you live, spend some time walking around
in nature, being thankful for it and all of the beauty around you.

  • Put
together a meal of organic/vegan food for your Thanksgiving
lunch/dinner and have a picnic outside if the weather permits. Be
sure to pick up your mess before going back inside as well.

  • E-mail
your family and friends an e-card to wish them a Happy Thanksgiving
if you can’t spend Thanksgiving with them, and let them know at
least one thing you are thankful for when it comes to them.
