For anyone driven to take eco-living to the next level, what could be more organic and natural than a living carpet on your bathroom floor? Designer La Chanh Nguyen has taken the concept of sustainable design to a new, more elegant place with the creation of the living moss carpet. The carpet, intended for use in a home bathroom, is made of imputrescible foam called plastazote and includes three species of moss: ball moss, island moss and forest moss. This material has the texture, porosity, and moisture retaining characteristics that enable moss to thrive. The generally humid conditions of the bathroom are also idea for healthy growth.

Anyone who has experienced the feel of moss growing on the side of a tree or on a river bank knows how soft and welcoming the plant feels against the skin. Image stepping out of the shower every morning, standing on a bed of moss, and letting the water drops falling from your body water the carpet below your feet.

I know I would enjoy starting my morning that way.
