I our household we used Ecover products for most things. The great aspect about them is that they can be purchased in large 25 litre containers so you reduce the amount of plastic packaging you use.

My favourite item in the linseed floor cleaner. It smell great.

If you click on their links you can find them online. Unfortunately, a lot of eco products such as this aren’t readily available in stores. However, Seventh Generation can be found usually in Whole Foods Market and Walgreens, pending your location.

That’s more than likely because Seventh Generation is the one someone is more likely to see in a store, not very many stores, but some. Not a lot of physical stores carry eco-friendly dishwasher soap.

I make my own dishwasher detergent – that way I know exactly what’s in it, I know it’s safe, and I save a TON of money. I use 2 TBSP liquid castile soap, 2 TBSP baking soda, 1 TBSP Borax, and about 3 quarts of water, with 10 drops of an antibacterial essential oil like lavender or tea tree. You have to shake it every time, and it’s very runny, but it works great.

I’m sure you can find it at S&R. They sell imported goods from US that you can’t find in other local supermarkets.

I have tried many of these eco-friendly dishwasher detergents without much success – the only one I have found to really work is Trader Joe’s ”Next to Godliness” Environmentally Sound Automatic Dishwasher Detergent. And it’s inexpensive!
