The home clothes dryer is one of the most energy demanding home appliances. Anything that generates large quantities of heat on demand is going to put a strain on your utility bill. These Dryer Cubes are an innovative way of improving your dryer’s efficiency. They help to dry clothes faster without the need to add chemicals to the mix. To use the cubes, your simply toss them in with a wet load of laundry and tumble dry. According to the manufacturers, your clothes will come out soften without the need to buy limited-use fabric softeners or dryer sheets.

The Dryer Cubes are made by Ecozone and offer an ecofriendly alternative to chemical-based products. While there are a lot more environmentally friendly cleaning products today than 20 years ago, a reusable solution is always worth noting. The cubes are made with little bumps all over them. When left in the dryer, the cubes essentially aggregate the laundry, like a cook stirring a pot. The additional movement helps to prevent clothes from stiffening as they dry and to circulate the air around the dryer.

The cubes even absorb some of the heat and act as an additional drying surface. I’d really have to give these cubes a try to know how well they work, but the premise makes a lot of sense to me. I can believe that the cubes would help prevent clothes from sticking to the sides of the dryer. Also, anything that helps to utilize the hot air inside the dryer is sure to improve the efficiency. On the down side, the cubes are going to have a limited life, and rather than being biodegradable, they are sure to sit in a landfill for a long long time. Personally, I’ll stick to hanging up my clothes to dry.
