
With
Thanksgiving coming up a fun, and quite easy, project to do is to
crochet a square hotpad, which will really come in handy with all of
the cooking that has to be done for Thanksgiving day. Another thing
to think about is that a hotpad can be used over and over, just store
it with all of your other Thanksgiving decorations. If you know how
to crochet or are in the process of learning how to crochet then a
square hotpad could be a great project to work on. Try this pattern
for a “Pumpkin Patch Square” by TkroCrafts:

twice, insert hook from front to back around post of st indicated, YO
and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), (YO and draw through 2 loops on
hook) 3 times. Skip st behind FPtr unless otherwise
specified.
V-Stitch (abbreviated V-st)
Dc,
ch 1, dc in same space.
Instructions:
With
Hunter Green, ch 4; join with slip st to form a ring.
Rnd
1 (right side): Ch 3
(counts as first dc now and throughout), 15 dc in ring; slip st to
first dc: 16 dc. Finish off.
Rnd
2: With Orange, join with
slip st in space between any two dc posts; ch 4, (skip next two dc,
work a shell of 3 dc in next sp between dc posts, ch 1) 7 times; 2 dc
in same sp as beginning ch-4; slip st to 3rd ch of beginning ch-4: 8
shells and 8 ch-1 sps.
Rnd 3: Slip st in
ch-1 sp; ch 3, 2 dc in same sp–beg shell made; *ch 1, FPtr around
middle dc of next shell, ch 1, 3 dc shell in next ch-1 sp, repeat
from * 6 times more; ch 1, FPtr around middle dc of next shell, ch 1;
slip st to first dc. Finish off.
Rnd 4: With Warm
Brown, join with slip st in middle dc of any 3-dc shell; ch 3, (2 dc,
ch 2, 3 dc) in same sp–beg corner made; ch 1, hdc in FPtr, ch 1, sc
in next 3 dc, ch 1, hdc in next FPtr, ch 1, *(3 dc, ch 2, 3dc) in
middle dc of next 3-dc shell–corner made; ch 1, hdc in next FPtr, ch
1, sc in next 3 dc, ch 1, hdc in next FPtr, ch 1; repeat from * 2
times more; join with slip st to beg dc. Finish off.
Rnd 5: With buff,
join with sl st in any ch-2 sp of any corner; work beginning corner
same as last rnd; ch 1, 3 dc shell in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; work 3-dc
shell in 2nd sc of 3-sc group, ch 1; skip next ch-1 sp, 3 dc shell in
next ch-1 sp, ch 1; *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) corner in next corner; ch 1,
3 dc shell in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; work 3-dc shell in 2nd sc of 3-sc
group, ch 1; skip next ch-1 sp, 3 dc shell in next ch-1 sp, ch 1;
repeat from * 2 times more; join with slip st to beg dc. Finish
off.
Rnd 6: With Black, join with sl st in any ch-2 sp
of any corner; (ch 4, dc, ch 2, dc, ch 1, dc) in same space–beg V-st
corner made; (skip next two sts, work V-st in next st) across;
*(V-st, ch 2, V-st) in next corner ch-2 sp–V-st corner made; (skip
next two sts, work V-st in next st) across; repeat from * 2 times
more; join with slip st to 3rd ch of beg ch-4. Finish off.
Rnd
7: With Aran, join with sl st in any ch-2 sp of any corner; work
beginning V-st corner same as last rnd; work V-st in each of next 8
V-sts, *in corner sp work V-st corner; work V-st in each of next 8
V-sts; repeat from * around; join with slip st to 3rd ch of beg ch-4.
Finish off and tie in all ends.
