When it comes to camping or hiking through nature, the most convenient and benefitial devices are the ones that compine functionality and thus conserve space. Those that are lightweight and made to last will gain the most popularity and find the widest range of uses. The Swiss Army knife is the perfect example of this mentality of combining as many tools as possible into one easy-to-carry and all-purpose device. As technology continues to advance, designers come up with better and more innovative ways to create the multifunctional tool.

The pictured bottle above is a pretty cool example of combining form and function. The name, LightCap, is fairly explanatory of what this ingenious little device does. Made by SolLight, the LightCap is a tough solar powered lantern and water bottle. The cap of the bottle is equipped with small solar cells, built is battery system, and four very bright LED lights. The cap is also built to handle the wear and tear of a life on the trail and isn’t going to break if left out in the rain. It is probably debatable if it can safely be thrown off a cliff, but I’ll leave that up to you. At  around $30 and with a weight of 10.5oz, the LightCap is a perfect, self-charging tool that would benefit any camper.
