With the new presidential election there has been plenty of uproar over who will win and who won’t win. Hillary Clinton was running for President, however it seems that she isn’t running anymore, which is unfortunate in my personal opinion. One of the things that was great about Hillary Clinton was her dedication to the environment, not only when she was trying to run for President but also long before that point. While we have possibly lost the fight for the environment with Hillary Clinton on our side it seems that there may be someone else who is running for President that could possibly not be so bad.
When you ask most people what John McCain’s, who is running against Obama currently, outlook on the environment is no one seems to have an answer, and ironically some don’t seem to really care. There is something that those of you who don’t know McCain’s outlook on the environment and or don’t really care might find to be quite interesting.
Here is a small list of things that McCain supports in regards to the environment:
Believing that the National Parks system is the crown jewels of America McCain believes that they are $6 billion underfunded and under enormous strain
Strengthening the regulation and enforcement of the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act
Preserving natural resources for the future
Encourage development of alternative fuels to reduce pollution
Strengthen emission controls on all gasoline and diesel powered engines
A few other interesting facts about McCain and the environment are that he voted No to reducing funds for road-building in National Forests, and he also voted Yes to killing the budget on Arctic National Wildlife Refuge oil drilling in Alaska. McCain proposed to create capital development bonds to refurbish 379 national parks by using park visitor fees in order to profit this.
Knowing a good portion of John McCain’s outlook on the environment I hope that this helped to educate everyone who didn’t know but already wanted to know. Perhaps this source of information will surprise you just as much as it surprised me. There is always something new to learn every day.
