Is your mailbox constantly packed with junk and bills? Always losing those paper receipts and or bills that you get in the mail? A lot of us do, so trust me when I say that you aren’t alone. Paper trails that haunt your mailbox are not only annoying but also tend to put a nice size dent into the environment. Though, just like with most things, that dent can be fixed or at the very least be made much smaller.

One of the best ways to start easing that enormous paper trail in your mailbox is to say goodbye to to the bills and start paying your bills online. The first thing that you will want to do with your bills is to opt out of paper bills, which can typically be done within your account on said companies website. If you are in need of help with finding out how to opt out of paper billing with said company simply call them and customer service should be able to help you out. Most companies have the option to pay your bill to said company through their website, however, there a few companies who don’t allow you to pay said bill via their website. If said company does not offer this option then there are two simple ways of getting around this. One way is to sign up with a website that handles nothing but e-billing, such as Xpress Bill Pay and MyCheckFree. Before signing up with one of these places make sure they don’t charge you for their service, unless you are willing to pay their fees, and check to be sure that the company you wish to make a payment to is in the website’s database of companies who accept e-billing from them. Option number two is the easiest way to go if you have a bank account, especially if you are already involved in online banking. E-billing through online banking is a lot easier because you don’t have to worry about whether or not a company is listed with them. When you setup everything to make a payment to a company through a bank online most banks have it setup so that you enter the name of the company and their address, etc. Banks that offer free online bill payment include Capital One Bank, Bank of America, Compass Bank, US Bank, Merchants Bank, etc.
